What should we learn from "Corona Virus"?

“The Covid 19 Virus emergency was initially perceived as a problem confined to the People's Republic of China; instead, in a few weeks, the epidemic turned into a pandemic. Our companies at the moment are all committed to managing the health emergency that is involving the whole world.

Today's global economy is different from those of a hundred years ago. Today companies have a fragile equilibrium, companies are linked together, for logistics, for resource, for sharing production and commercial platforms. Employees continue to work according to traditional methods, using conventional technologies and the same transportation and communication way. No company manages to be an island during a time of crisis. Most companies have no financial resources to handle unexpected problems or catastrophes. The staff and management are not prepared, for lack of training. Governments are unable to make laws with the same flexibility as the market to mitigate the negative impact of an event of this type.

What should we learn from "Corona Virus"?

Create companies that invest in training? Forced companies to have savings plans or insurance against such events? Who can bear these costs? Can the government meet the needs of companies? With what kind of resources? These are all questions that do not have an easy answer. Maybe we have to learn to change our lifestyle? Way of working? During this time everyone talking about smart working? Wasn't the previous office job "smart"? are we sure we are ready? Can we get thousands of employees out of the highway? Can we do it? Are we culturally prepared? Do we trust others? What about ourselves? Of our collaborators? Are we sure that working from home is the solution? Do we need to socialize? Work is not only the execution of an action, and I believe it is creation, the joy of creating and producing something and solving problems or developing projects together with others.

What should we learn from "Corona Virus"?

Should we learn to ask ourselves questions? To our collaborators? About what we want to do, and what goals we want to achieve, how and when. Do we have to go fast all the time? Increase our revenue every year? Or can we accept moments of pause, moments to dedicate to the growth of ourselves and our companies? making an alternative path to economic growth and the achievement of a financial goal? Is all this achievable?

Usually, we do the exact opposite. Then comes something that looks like the simple flu. After a few days, it vaporizes billions of dollars from the Stock Markets, sweeps away small and medium-sized companies, years of history, changes away our habits, and our way of living.”

What should we learn from the Corona Virus?"
